Intro Workshops
Thinking of trying out Taiko but not ready to commit? Workshops on the first Sunday of each month are a “taster” of what our classes are like. Come learn the basic form and part of a song. Each workshop will teach a different song on a different drum, so both new and repeat attendees are welcome. First Sunday of every month, 2:30pm-4pm. Register on EventBrite. No walk-ins allowed. Age 12+.
Beginner classes
Beginner classes for adults are on Wednesday nights, with class openings approximately every 4 months. Kids classes start on the first Saturday of every month for kids age 8+. Contact us to learn how to join a new class cycle. Please read this entire page about how to contact us, pricing and what to expect, then fill out the interest form below. Registration directly with us is always required. No walk-ins permitted.

What to expect
Be prepared for active fun
Class schedule
Once you've attended beginner classes, we'll share info on additional class opportunities. Beginners play alongside more experienced students and teachers - it's a supportive group activity. Note, after your first class, you will need to purchase bachi (drumsticks) which we sell at cost for $20.
What to wear
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing in which you can fully move. Loose jewelry (rings, watches, earrings, bracelets, necklaces etc.) should be removed before class.
Etiquette
Once we begin warmups, class is in "dojo mode". We'll teach you our dojo etiquette that makes class effective and still fun.
Taiko is taught in the tradition of martial arts. The essence of Taiko is not only looked upon as the skillful playing of percussion instruments, but as the discipline of mind and body in the spirit of complete respect and unity among the drummers. Taiko players are more than just fellow drummers. We are family. We help each other.
How to learn and practice
Our instructors will tell you what to practice. After class, we will invite you to join our member communication channels for receiving study materials and announcements.
